Bwindi Lodge bandas were named after specific gorillas in the Buhoma sector in each banda separately, with fantastic furniture and poster beds made out of local wooden materials, a running water flushing toilet, and a 24/7 en-suite shower.

 

Bwindi Lodge Banda has a furnished balcony where travelers can sit and enjoy the mist all over the forest in the morning and evening after returning from their mountain gorilla trekking experience, or relax at peace on the verandah as you enjoy a refreshing drink while you meditate.

Buhoma sector is located in the Northwestern part of Bwindi impenetrable Forest national park mostly in Kanungu, Buhoma sector is faced with the hilly forest of Bwindi and the pleasing dark evergreen vegetation, Buhoma is among the four sectors of the Bwindi impenetrable Forest national park that is considered while trekking mountain gorillas in Uganda.

 

Buhoma sector is where mountain gorilla tourism activity started from ever since it was the first sector to be opened in 1993 after Bwindi was turned in to a national park and the oldest sector in Bwindi forest impenetrable national park.

 

Buhoma sector accommodates the oldest mountain gorilla family called the Mubare gorilla family. Mubare mountain gorilla family had 18 members, and the eldest known as Ruhondeza had no power to control and keep his gorilla family due to his old age.

 

Mubare mountain gorilla family separated, and some members went to other sectors. By the time Ruhondeza died, his mountain gorilla family had only four members left, although the re-introduction of other new silverbacks managed to capture mountain gorillas from other mountain gorilla families.

 

Buhoma sector only offers 24 mountain gorilla trekking permits daily, which are always fully booked, making it the busiest sector of all four sectors of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, although Buhoma is not the sector with the biggest mountain gorilla families.

 

Driving to the Buhoma region from Entebbe or Kampala city center takes a full day; driving from Lake Mburo National Park takes six hours; and driving from Queen Elizabeth National Park takes two hours. It is one of the most accessible parts of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park because of its close vicinity to Queen Elizabeth National Park, particularly the southern region of the Ishasha sector.

 

Alternatively, there are scheduled flights that land at Kihihi Airfield. Depending on the state of the road network, it can take guests one and a half hours to connect by car to the Buhoma sector.Kihihi may be reached by charter flights or domestic flights departing from Kajjansi Airfield or Entebbe International Airport. It's one of the top places to explore on your next holiday in Uganda because of its easy accessibility.
